A24 has already purchased the rights, with Washington set to write the adaptation for television. Three years ago, when Bryan Washington started sporadically tapping out the earliest draft of Memorial on his phone’s Notes app - while waiting for dinner to simmer, or between teaching ESL classes- he envisioned the self-proclaimed “queer traumedy” as a short story with limited appeal. ![]()
